Skincare DIY’s can often be intimidating or contain hard to find ingredients you’ll never use again, but it doesn’t have to be that way! I’ve prepared 3 recipes today that are super easy to follow. A lip scrub to buff away dead skin, a lip mask to get your lips super-hydrated, and a lip balm to lock in moisture. Use these recipes whenever you need to give your lips a quick refresh!
¼ tsp Coconut Oil (Anti-Inflammatory)
1 tsp Sugar (Topical Exfoliant)
4 Drops Vitamin E Oil (Moisturizing, Promotes cell rejuvenation)
2 Drops Almond Oil (Moisturizing, Evens Skin Tone)
2 Drops Castor Oil (Humectant, Evens skin tone)
⅛ tsp Honey (Anti-Bacterial)
¼ tsp Himalayan Pink Salt (Disinfectant)
1. Pumpkin Spice
⅛ tsp Cinnamon
⅛ tsp Nutmeg
⅛ tsp Clove
2. Sugar Cookie
3 Drops Vanilla Extract
⅛ tsp Cinnamon
1 Drop Vanilla
⅛ tsp Finely Ground Coffee (Exfoliating)
5. Cucumber Mint
⅛ tsp Cucumber
⅛ tsp Mint
Mix ¼ tsp coconut oil with 1 tsp sugar. If using optional ingredients, add ¼ tsp Himalayan Pink Salt and ⅛ tsp Honey. Add 4 drops Vitamin E oil, 2 drops Almond Oil, and 2 drops Castor Oil. Mix the ingredients well. The scrub should have the consistency of slightly wet sand and barely clump together. Mix in any variations and store in an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
It is recommended to only keep the cucumber mint lip scrub for a week. Feel free to change the proportions of the ingredients to your liking. As with all new skincare products be sure to do a patch test before applying to your face to avoid any adverse reactions.
Apply a small amount of scrub to your lips and gently massage it into your lips. Rinse off with warm water.
¼ tsp Honey
1 tsp Coconut Oil
1 tsp Shea Butter
¼ tsp Fresh Aloe Vera Gel
2 Drops Vitamin E Oil
2 Drops Avocado Oil
4 Drops Castor Oil
Mix 1 tsp Coconut Oil, 1 tsp Shea Butter and set aside. Make aloe vera gel. Cut a small section from the aloe vera leaf and cut the leaf in half, revealing the clear flesh inside. Scoop out the flesh and mix into a gel using a fork or blender. Add ¼ tsp Fresh Aloe Vera Gel to the mixture. Add 2 drops Vitamin E Oil, 2 drops Avocado Oil, and 4 Drops Castor Oil. Mix well and leave in the fridge for 1 hour to set. Keep stored in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Apply a generous amount of the mask to your lips and let sit for 10-20 minutes. Wipe the mask off with a warm, damp cloth.
½ cup Beeswax
1 tbsp Coconut Oil
1 tbsp Shea Butter
1 tsp Almond Oil
Natural Dye from Juiced or Powdered Fruits and Vegetables (Beet, Pomegranate, Cranberry, Red Cabbage, Etc)
Melt ½ cup beeswax in a double boiler. Add 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp shea butter, and 1tsp almond oil. Mix in dye until you get the desired color. Pour mixture into small containers and store in a cool, dry place.
Tip: Be sure to do a patch test before you apply any new skincare products.
